SUMMARY:Introduction to Mindfulness
DESCRIPTION:\n\n\n \n\n\nA 6-week course on Wednesdays\, 6-7:30 pm at the Ituze Center (starting Wednesday\, Jan 15).  \n\n\n\n Mindfulness is the practice of being purposefully present with   compassionate\, non-judgmental awareness. While mindfulness has its roots   in Buddhism\, we will focus in this course on secular practices that   have been proven effective in developing both physical and psychological   wellness. Some benefits may be stress relief\, improved sleep\, a more   positive attitude\, and a deeper connection with others. Mindfulness   helps us to savor the pleasures in life\, to become fully engaged in   activities\, and to respond with equanimity to life’s challenges.  \n\n\n\n Participants will practice a variety of formal and informal mindfulness   practices\, such as the body scan\, seated and walking meditation\,  mindful  movement\, loving-kindness meditation\, and mindful eating. The  course is  primarily designed as an introduction\, but previous  practitioners are  welcome to participate in order to deepen their  practice and develop a  mindfulness community.  \n\n\n \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n
